WebReview.com: March 16, 2001: The Myth of 800x600: Interesting article about designing websites for 800x600 screen resolutions, James Kalback puts forward the interesting and enlightening view that this is probably the wrong statistic to use. And just when I had optimised the Beverley College site for 800x600! Needless to say this blog works quite well in 800x600 and even with an IE channel bar open.
The FreeCert Project : is still in its infancy, but is basically setup to look at the existing monopoly that Verisign have on SSL Certification and hopefully in the end provide low cost or free certificates to people.
Riders - How you can get what you need!: Discover how to get that list of show requests recognised.
efdtt.c: This little C program beats the 7 Line PERL script posted earlier for size. It allows realtime decryption of CSS DVD encryption, and apparently it will do it better than the PERL script. How the MPAA are going to supress this I don’t know. Maybe its time to admit defeat, and open up the standards and allow it to take off…but I won’t hold my breath!
the 2001 5k competition: Brilliant idea, produce a website in only 5k… look at the 2000 winners, very creative!
A List Apart: Web Designer and Proud of It! An interesting article about what sets apart the 16yr old kid with a homepage, and the professional webdesigner… also spot the magic reference
Descramble That DVD in 7 Lines: A Perl script designed to break DVD protection, writen in just 7 lines, it doesn’t include the title key so hopefully this means it doesn’t violate the DMCA. Also check out David Touretzky’s Gallery of DVD descramblers.

Blackpool 2001 Report: I finally got round to doing my report on the Blackpool Convention, see what you think and add any comments. It is the first report in the new articles section!
Woohoo! I think the design of the blog should be just about complete, which means I can concentrate on the content, check out the new features, polls, articles, links etc. I will try and get some content into them asap, look out for a Blackpool report in the articles section. Also I need your help, if you want to contribute to this blog in anyway click on the contribute button, and then get in touch.
Off to Blackpool Magic Convention! Full report when I get back, and the site will be finished off, as I now am using a new javascript topmenu rather than the other PHP one so its a bit easier to integrate it with the site.
Magician Blaine To Hang Off Building: David’s next big stunt is to recreate Houdini’s Straightjacket escape, I like Blaine, despite what other people might say, his character works for him, he is the mysterious magician, he doesn’t have to use clever patter, he doesn’t get in the way of the ‘moment’ by talking. Look at the publicity he is getting for Magic as well!
OpenCola.com: Open Source Soft Drink! They have applied the GNU licence to a SoftDrink… also has a few other products on the site like OpenCola Folders, SwarmCast, ColaSDK. Interesting idea though, could the OpenSource mentality be transfered to something other than computer code?
Sleights on the server: MPEGs of Greg Lee doing various card sleights.
